Domain
Transfer
For a transfer to be successful, the
following conditions must exist:
I.
Domain cannot be in Locked,
Hold,
or Dispute status.
II.
Domain name must have been registered for
more than 60 days
since it was first registered there OR since it was
last transferred.
III. Domain names that are expired
can not be transferred.
IV. The current
administrative contact's email address must be
valid, to allow for the confirmation of the transfer
request.
--------------------------------------------------------
To Proceed:
1. Fill-out our domain registry transfer
form and select "transfer".
2. Type in the domain name that you will be transferring
and the contact details (owner, administrative, billing).
Please be sure that the administrative contact e-mail
address is the same as the one as shown in your current domain registrar's profile.*
*In order to verify the transfer request, the email address must be acquired. OpenSRS system finds the email address for the administrative contact by querying the WHOIS output of the current Registrar.
3.
Fill out your credit card details to finalize the transfer
order.
4.
Confirm the transfer details. If there are any errors,
click on the appropriate step on the left and make the
corrections.
If the email address matches from the WHOIS output
and is properly formed, the system emails the administrative
contact a URL with instructions (first email) for approving or declining
the transfer request.
We can't assist you in transferring the domain until we can verify who is accepting the transfer.
Note that all transfers are sanity-checked to prevent high-profile domains like "aol.com" from being transferred fraudulently.
Registrar transfers are sent to the Registry (second email) where it awaits approval. Unless the losing Registrar explicitly denies the transfer (for instance, if the domain is past it's expiry date), it will usually go through this step.
Please note that some Registrars have added confirmations of their own for transfers away from their system. Please contact them directly for details.
The
domain transfer process usually takes 5-7 working days
to be completed. It can go through sooner if the domain owner and the losing registrar explicitly approves the transfer. This will vary from registrar to registrar.
For our domain transfer charge, please visit https://ehosting.ca/domain.php for details. The domain transfer fee includes one year
extension of your domain's expiry date after the transfer request
is completed.
NOTE:
A domain's nameservers will not
be changed during a Registrar transfer. However, they can
be changed via the domain panel once the domain has reached the OpenSRS system.
*
prices are in CND and subject to 7% tax.

Hosting
Transfer
To avoid website downtime, please follow
the below procedures BEFORE cancelling
your initial hosting account:
1.
Sign up for a Web hosting account via our Signup
Wizard. Once your account is setup, you will
receive an e-mail from us (subject:"Your web account
is ready!") which includes your FTP/hosting panel
login information and account settings.
2. Next, upload all your files to our web server and create all associated email address(es) via our Hosting Control Panel. The welcome emails should contain all tutorials (with screenshots) for setting up email accounts.
3.
Contact your domain registrar and have your domain DNS
point to our assigned nameserver addresses which are
sent along in our welcome email. Please contact us at
support@mecca.ca
should you need information about your DNS information.
It will take about 48-72 hours
for your domain registrar to update their DNS (the amount
of actual time varies by registrar). Once it's updated,
your domain name will point to your new website that
is hosted on Mecca's servers automatically.
4.
If you use e-mail addresses associated with the domain
name, we recommend that you check mails at both locations
(via your previous hosting company
and on our mail server).
Once you confirm that all e-mail settings and your website
are properly pointed to Mecca eHosting.ca, go ahead and cancel the
account with your previous hosting company.
